East Lansing, MI –

After 34 years at NPR, including 30 years as the newscaster on "Morning Edition", Carl Kasell is leaving the program next week.

Kasell plans to stay busy, and you'll still hear him on the air.

But don't make the mistake WKAR's Scott Pohl did in a recent interview, and use the word "retirement".

Local journalism matters—and it’s at risk.

WKAR brings you trusted news, without barriers—no paywalls, no corporate spin. But now, federal funding that helps make it all possible is on the chopping block. Your support is more important than ever. Stand up for independent journalism in mid-Michigan—make your gift today.
