Rep. Jones wants to modify medical marijuana law

By Scott Pohl, WKAR

EAST LANSING, MI –

State Representative Rick Jones today renewed a call for changes to Michigan's medical marijuana law.

The Grand Ledge republican is critical of medical marijuana clubs that have begun springing up around the state.

"Well, what's wrong with marijuana clubs is they get people high, and then they put them back on the road, Jones says. "And they're driving high. That's what I want to ban. I have no problem with somebody in pain, in their own home, using the product. That's what the Michiganders wanted. They didn't want them back on the road, driving."

Jones says he voted against the medical marijuana law when it was on a statewide ballot, saying it was "poorly written."

The former Eaton County Sheriff says he has "no problem" with qualified patients growing their own marijuana within the confines of the law.

Jones is the guest on this week's edition of the public television program "Off the Record."
