East Lansing, MI – The Rev. Jesse Jackson spoke to students at Michigan State University Wednesday. The civil rights leader urged them to take part in a march scheduled for this weekend in Detroit.

Saturday's march comes on the 47th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech.
Jackson is touring towns across Michigan to encourage people to vote for grassroots-centered labor and education policies.
Jackson supports student loan debt forgiveness. He says that would be a step towards countering the effects of the Wall Street bailout.
"So, the top down...we've watered the leaves; now it's time to water the roots," Jackson says. "And so we say with student loan debt forgiveness and direct targeting of jobs, we can begin to make the economy come back again."
Jackson says the march in Detroit will emphasize rebuilding the national workforce and stemming the tide of home foreclosures.
