At Michigan State, fans of the 6'7" defensive lineman would chant "kill, Bubba, kill," as the giant man made his way down the field. Bubba Smith was named All American in 1965 and 1966, was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and MSU retired his number, 95, in 2006.

Smith was the first draft pick in 1967, and played for the Baltimore Colts - who won the Super Bowl in 1970 -- the Oakland Raiders, and the Houston Oilers. He retired after the 1976 season.

He started acting in the late 70s. His best known role was Moses Hightower in the Police Academy series.

Bubba Smith was 66.
