LANSING, MI –

Eight start-up businesses are setting up shop in what's being called Lansing's first business incubator. The NEO Center on Clark Street is host to nine fledgling companies that focus on media, marketing and design. Its aim is to help the start-ups grow by offering inexpensive office space in a collaborative environment.

Paul Jaques is a NEO Center co-owner and board member. He says the center's board members also will offer other help.

"If they need a bank, if they need a lawyer, if they need suggestions of insurance .how to get their business going," he says. "Love em to stay in the area hopefully the cycle continues."

About a dozen work spaces are still vacant. The collaborative project also involves Kincaid-Henry Construction and the Ingham County Land Bank. The center's grand opening is scheduled for December 8.
