Schuette: Romney won't take Michigan for granted

LANSING, MI –

The chairman of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's Michigan campaign says Romney will campaign hard in his native state even if he's looking hard to beat by the time he gets here.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette told reporters Wednesday that Romney's wins in Iowa and New Hampshire are creating a lot of momentum, but the former Massachusetts governor isn't taking anything for granted.

Michigan holds its presidential primary Feb. 28, the same day as Arizona. It will be the first Upper Midwest presidential primary after contests in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida, Nevada, Maine and Missouri.

Schuette says the Romney campaign "will have a strong presence in Michigan" with "plenty of time and effort and ads."

Candidate Ron Paul also has a staff in Michigan.
