Soul-inspired jazz trumpeter Dwight Adams is one of the brightest stars on the Detroit jazz scene. A latecomer who began playing the trumpet in junior high, unshakable dedication quickly helped him land his first gig at age 16, playing in Teddy Harris’ New Breed BeBop Society Orchestra. Adams’ countless tours and recordings include the likes of Stevie Wonder, Marcus Belgrave, James Carter, Shawn Wallace, Donald Walden and MSU’s very own Rodney Whitaker.
