It’s not just you: cities across northern Michigan have seen multiple record-breaking hot days over the past week.
In Alpena alone, 5 of the last 7 days had record-breaking warm temperatures, according to the National Weather Service office in Gaylord.
And of the five main cities the office monitors, all of them had at least two record-breaking days this past week.
Faith Fredrickson is with the National Weather Service’s Gaylord office.
“What we’ve been seeing most of the last week is 20-30 degrees above average this time of year,” she said. “Normal high temperatures for this time of year in Northern Michigan are lower to mid 40’s.”
Fredrickson said the region is expected to get back down into normal seasonal temperatures later this week.
“It’s definitely been warm and summer-like in the last few days,” she said. “It’s given everybody an opportunity to get things prepared before winter comes back - whenever it actually does decide to come in.”
