More About Food Over 50

Chef and host David Jackson selects only the healthiest and tastiest from world cuisine, and favors grilling, searing, roasting and steaming techniques rather than deep fat frying and butter basting.

David is an American Culinary Federation & Chefs de Cuisine Association award winner, and no novice to television. David created and hosted local and national food segments and cooking shows such as Eating Well, Food For Thought and Healthy Lifestyles for The Hospital Satellite Network (HSN) and ABC affiliate KESQ-Palm Springs during the 1980s.

Food Over 50 also relies on its exemplary nutrition team, headed by Elizabeth Kelsey, R.D., a 40-year practitioner of registered dietetics and a respected nutrition educator. Elizabeth features in our Second Helpings segments, along with David, to define the health theme of each FO5O episode, critique recipes from a nutrition perspective and advance the message of cooking and eating fresh foodstuffs, not relying on manufactured heat-and-serve meals.

Food Over 50 is primarily taped in the scenic Mojave Desert, with cooking segments taking place in the kitchen, and select seafood recipes shot at Jackson's quaint seaside cottage in The Outer Hebrides in Scotland.
