Michigan State University officials have approved a 2012-2013 budget that includes a 3.5% increase in undergraduate, in-state tuition rates.  Out-of-state students will pay 5% more.

Michigan State University's December commencement ceremonies will include two prominent Detroiters.  Newspaperman, author and broadcaster Mitch Albom will address undergraduates on Saturday, December 10th.  The author of "Tuesdays with Morrie" will also receive an honorary doctorate of humanities. 

Detroit Public Schools emergency manager Roy Roberts will speak to undergraduates that afternoon.  Roberts will be awarded an honorary doctorate of business.
