In 1991, Jeff Daniels founded The Purple Rose Theatre Company in his hometown of Chelsea, Michigan. This documentary chronicles Daniels' journey from high school actor to the New York stage and, in the midst of a successful film career, his decision to move back home to Michigan to form his own professional theater company.
