Lansing, MI – Two incumbents and two political novices will face each other in November for two at-large seats on the Lansing City Council. Two candidates will also advance in both the first and third ward races.

Council members Carol Wood and Derrick Quinney held onto their seats, but will share the November ballot with newcomers Rory Neuner and Tom Stewart. A fifth candidate, John Krohn, failed to muster enough votes to advance to the general election.

Neuner is a public transportation advocate, while Stewart owns a business that guides startup ventures.

If elected, Neuner says her top priority will be to give Lansing residents a more professional, functioning council.

"They want to see people on the Lansing city council that are interested in building consensus for what's best for the city," Neuner says. "That's what I'm looking to do, in part by talking to voters all across the city in every corner."

In Lansing's first ward, Lynne Martinez and Jody Washington will advance to the general election. Incumbent council president A'Lynne Robinson and opponent Jason Wilkes are running for seats in the third ward.
