Unfortunately Cakeless is a musical project formed by multi-instrumentalists Rob Underhill and Roan Floer-Martinez to create sonic landscapes. Drawing on a diverse range of musical influences including rock, soul, americana, and classical traditions, the group presents originals and reinterpretations of songs showcasing its unique instrumental lineup. Rob brings years of experience and striking vocal presence while Roan’s recent introduction from the world of classical music lends his violin to several of Unfortunately Cakeless' most powerful songs. With an irreverent book, an astonishing set, and a score that’s out of this Netherworld, BEETLEJUICE is “SCREAMINGLY GOOD FUN!” (Variety). And under its uproarious surface (six feet under, to be exact), it’s a remarkably touching show about family, love, and making the most of every Day-O!

MIFMA’s Farmers Markets at the Capitol are a staple of downtown Lansing’s summer landscape. WKAR Education and radio team will be there to hand out learning materials and books! The markets offer the smell of local floral bouquets, the sweet taste of vine-ripened produce, and so much more. Shoppers have a cornucopia of products to choose from including fresh produce, jams, jellies, baked goods, honey, maple syrup, meat, salsas, dips, pickled products, soaps, and more. Visitors can also take advantage of numerous food trucks throughout the market day parked along Capitol Avenue.

Ages 6 - 12

In this hands-on six week program, kids will learn how scientists study nature by keeping their own scientific nature journals. Parents are welcome to attend, too. Dress for the weather!

Whether you're experienced or just starting, the stage is open to all.

Not a performer? Enjoy dinner, drinks, and live music from local artists. No cover charge and all ages are welcome. Come early and enjoy the local flavor of Old Town.

Doors at 5PM

Participants gather at our designated tables at BrickHaven at 6pm on the 4th Wednesday of each month*. Everyone brings a book of their choice to read. The Library Coordinator greets & welcomes everyone, participants may order drinks and food, and then we'll all silently read the book of our choice, for about 45 minutes. At that time, the Coordinator invites everyone to share a bit about the book they're reading-- people can choose to participate or not, whatever they're comfortable with. Registration required to reserve space.
