Teens 12+
Learn emergency procedures, discipline techniques, diapering, age-appropriate activities, rescue breathing, the Heimlich maneuver, and basic first aid skills needed while babysitting. Upon workshop completion, students receive an American Red Cross babysitting course certificate. Registration required, class size limited.

Join Happendance Professional Company for an imaginative performance that brings beloved stories to life through dance. Audiences will journey to Lake Michigan with The Legend of Sleeping Bear, based on Kathy-jo Wargin’s cherished book, and explore the vibrant Amazon Rainforest in Treasures in the Treetops. With engaging storytelling and captivating movement, this interactive performance is perfect for children and families alike.

An evening of emotional and powerful music. Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture begins with celebratory and bold sounds. Schumann’s Piano Concerto follows, full of beauty and heart, performed by 2022 Gilmore Young Artist winner, Janice Carissa. Mozart’s Requiem closes the program with dramatic, inspiring music that will stay with you long after the final note.

Keep the celebration going after the baton is down and the instruments are put away. Taking place in various locations around Jackson following Saturday evening concerts, these events are a great opportunity to mingle with musicians, guest artists, composers, other symphony fans, and of course, the Maestro. PARKING AND ACCESSIBILITY
Parking: Accessible parking spaces are near the front of the lot but not right by the door. Valet parking is available to help reduce the distance.
Seating: Accessible seating and companion seats are about four rows from the front, near a side entrance. There are also accessible seats in the back row with space for wheelchairs. If you need assistance, our staff is happy to help. If you don’t need accessible seating but want to avoid stairs, the back rows are a good choice. Walkways are wide and have railings to help if you want to sit closer to the stage. Please note that there are no elevators in this venue. This Historical Speaker Series program explores how local residents became part of the ‘49er migration, tracing their journeys from Michigan to California and examining what they encountered upon arrival. A Caregiver’s Butterfly Garden – Exhibit at the City of East Lansing's Hannah Community Center

Event Description

Experience A Caregiver’s Butterfly Garden, a powerful art and storytelling exhibit created by MSU's IMPART Alliance and AgeAlive, in partnership with the City of East Lansing.

This vibrant installation honors Michigan’s Direct Care Workers (DCWs) — the professionals who provide essential daily support for older adults and people with disabilities. Each butterfly in the exhibit carries a handwritten message from a caregiver, folded into art that transforms individual reflections into a collective symbol of compassion, resilience, and advocacy.

Curated by East Lansing artist-in-residence Zahrah Resh, the exhibit combines creativity, community, and awareness to highlight the urgent need for a stronger direct care workforce across Michigan—one that receives fair wages, training, and recognition for their vital work.

Visitors are invited to explore the garden, learn about the project, and reflect on the importance of caregiving in our communities.

Join us for the 15th Annual Artists’ Fine Art Sale & Studio Tour May1st (5-9pm) and May 2nd (10am-5pm.) This season we are pleased to host 24 artists. Artists will be displaying art forms such as textiles, ceramics, sculpture, paintings and more. The self-guided tour starts at Williamstown Twp Hall and travels through rural areas stopping at five more artist studios or venues.

TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW. Tickets are $5/person, cover both days, and are available at Eventbrite, Williamstown Township Hall, Williamston Wellness, and at the artist's studios during the tour.
