Michigan State University College of Human Medicine is expanding its annual event this year with the new name of Teddy Bear Health Fair! The event will take place on Saturday, May 11 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Demonstration Hall Field (across from 393 Chestnut Road, East Lansing, MI 48824).
At this free community event, children and their adult friends can engage in fun physical activities to get their bodies moving, enjoy samples of delicious healthy snacks, and interact with first responders, health professionals, and MSU medical students.
Children are encouraged to bring their favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal for a ‘health checkup’ at the Teddy Bear Hospital and adults can discover health and wellness resources in their community.
Welcome spring! World Migratory Bird Day celebrates the seasonal migration of millions of birds from their southern wintering grounds back to North America.
Visit the zoo on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. to participate in fun, family-friendly stations set up throughout the zoo and learn the importance of migratory birds (along with some simple practices you can use to help!)
Williamston Figure Study is an annual art course open to students and the public held at Williamston High School. The class provides models for artists to draw in various situations, settings, and themes. It’s a great opportunity for growth as an artist and a chance to admire the styles and working process of others. ‘Figuring It All Out’ showcases the results of this class. Join us May 11th for the opening reception. Exhibit runs until August 10th.

May 15 Wednesday
: The 17th Annual Greater Lansing Ride of Silence will be a solemn bicycling procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. It is one of over 300 world-wide similar rides occurring simultaneously as the Global Ride of Silence.
The bicycling procession will begin at MSU and end at the Capitol. Bicyclists of all ages and riding skill levels are invited to participate.
Registration will take place on Wednesday May 15 between 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at the plaza east of Wells Hall on the Michigan State University campus. The memorial ride will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. from the plaza. It will be conducted in solemn and reflective silence, with a police escort provided, culminating in a short memorial ceremony on the Capitol steps. We will ride in the rain, but not lightning or other severe weather; the thunderstorm date is the following Saturday, May 18, at noon (registration11:15). Helmets are required. Lights and bright clothing are highly recommended for the ride home.
There is no charge for this event. There will be an optional after-ride celebration at Ozone’s Brewhouse.
