GOP Presidential Hopefuls Flock To Michigan

thefederalist.com

Michigan is seeing an influx of GOP presidential hopefuls.

The Michigan Public Radio Network’s Jake Neher has more.

Three declared and likely candidates have already made stops across the state this week.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker spoke at a GOP event in Ingham County. He refused to answer when reporters asked him after the event whether he would have supported the auto bailouts.

“That’s a hypothetical from the past,” he says.  “I said I’m talking about the future. I’ll leave it to you guys to talk about the past. I’m talking about the future.”

Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky also spoke at a separate GOP event in West Michigan.

Doctor Ben Carson announced his candidacy for president in his home town of Detroit.

Jake Neher is a reporter for the Michigan Public Radio Network. He covers the State Legislature and other political events in Lansing.
