EAST LANSING, MI –

Michigan State University will institute a "no bags" policy for football games at Spartan Stadium, starting this fall.

The policy will not be in place for the spring football game, scheduled for April 30th.

The Department of Homeland Security recommended the new policy.

Along with improving security, it should take less time to enter the stadium, since there will be no bag inspections.

Purses, diaper bags, camera and binocular cases, and seat backs with pockets will not be allowed into the stadium.

An exception will be made for those with medical or family needs. Items will be allowed into the stadium in a clear, one-gallon ziploc bag.

University officials say the policies for the Breslin Center and Munn Ice Arena are under review. They could be changed to match the "no bags" policy in the future.
