EAST LANSING, MI – "Michigan Calling" airs Friday, July 8, at 9 a.m. on 90.5 WKAR, AM/870 and public radio stations statewide. It will also be available as a live video webcast at WKAR.org and many MPRN station websites.

The live call-in program features Michigan Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville-R and Senate Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer-D, and is hosted by MPRN state Capitol bureau chief Rick Pluta.

"Michigan Calling" is a chance for citizens to question the legislative leaders about the budget, the economy and Governor Rick Snyder's sometimes-controversial agenda that includes tax and education reform, altering the states relationship with local governments and promoting the growth of small business. This will also be a chance for listeners to query the Senate leaders on what they see as the big issues in the future.

People across Michigan are invited to email questions to michcall@mprn.org in the days before the broadcast (up through July 6) or phone in their questions during the broadcast.

On-demand playback of the program will be available at WKAR.org beginning the afternoon following the live broadcast.

"Michigan Calling" is a continuing project of public broadcasters to connect their audience with political leaders and candidates. A "Michigan Calling" with state House leaders is scheduled for mid-September.

Media and news websites are invited to serve the live stream from WKAR. Contact webmaster@wkar.org for stream embed code and details.
