A Rally of Writers

A Rally of Writers

A Rally of Writers—Michigan’s longest-running writers conference—is back in action on April 9 at Lansing Community College after a pandemic-induced hiatus of two years. The conference is aimed at aspiring and veteran writers alike, who are seeking to hone their writing skills, expand into new genres, sharpen their marketing strategies, and much more. This year’s event will showcase Doug Stanton, a New York Times bestselling author, lecturer, and screenwriter. He has written for Men’s Journal, the New York Times, Outside Magazine, Esquire, Time magazine and many others. His New York Times bestselling books include The Odyssey of Echo Company, In Harm’s Way (the sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis), and Horse Soldiers, which was the basis for the 2018 movie, 12 Strong, directed by Jerry Bruckheimer. He will present a session on writing narrative nonfiction. This all-day event will offer 16 breakout sessions in all genres of writing and the writing business, led by published Michigan authors. There will be time to network and speak one-on-one with the presenting authors. In February 2020, A Rally of Writers was featured in The Writer magazine as one of the best writing conferences in the nation.
