In the Democratic primaries, voters nominated Tom Cochran for the 67th district, Andy Schor for the 68th and Sam Singh for the 69th.
Ingham County commissioner Andy Schor outpolled six other Democrats for the nomination in the 68th state House district. At his election night rally, Schor said his focus will be on education, jobs, and revitalizing our communities. He said those areas have been cut to pay for a business tax cut.
"I believe that in order to retain talent here in Michigan, young workers coming out of college, we need to have great K-12 schools, we need to have great higher education, we need to have great places," Schor said.
Schor will oppose Republican Timothy Moede, a retired Lansing firefighter, in the November election. Moede defeated Michael Wing in the GOP primary.
Former East Lansing mayor Sam Singh defeated Susan Schmidt for the Democratic nomination in the 69th state House district. Singh credited hard work reaching out to voters for his victory.
"Since March 23rd, we've been going door to door and just talking to the citizens of the district, talking about my vision, but also talking about their concerns: where do they want to see education, economic development, the environment," Singh said.
In November, Singh will take on Meridian Township supervisor Susan McGillicuddy. She easily defeated two others for the Republican nomination.
