East Lansing's Prima Civitas explores business opportunities in Libya

Flickr

An economic developer based out of East Lansing is pursuing a project in Libya – one it says would benefit Michigan companies and universities. The Prima Civitas Foundation, along with Michigan and global partners, wants to coordinate and proceed with the construction of a new university and city, potentially near Benghazi.

The opportunity comes a few years after a similar one in Iraq, which stalled due to financing challenges.  Prima Civitas’ director of International Programs, Pat McRae, explains the Libyan and Iraqi projects and their possible effects on Michigan.
