East Lansing G Klarissa Bell wins Miss Basketball

By AP

DETROIT – Klarissa Bell says she isn't surprised that this year's Miss Basketball winner for Michigan came from Michigan State's loaded recruiting class.

The East Lansing senior just didn't think it would be her, despite averaging 21 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals this season. East Lansing plays Rockford in Tuesday's Class A quarterfinals.

Bell is a shooting guard who finished with 1,267 points in voting done by the Basketball Coaches of Michigan, putting her well ahead of a three-way battle for second.

Grand Rapids Catholic Central's Annalise Pickrel finished second, with Grosse Pointe North's Ariel Braker third and Detroit Country Day's Madison Williams in fourth.

Pickrel and Williams will join Bell at Michigan State this fall.
