Governor Gretchen Whitmer says she has yet to hear a serious alternative to her proposal to boost the fuel tax to pay for road repairs. As we hear from Capital Bureau Chief Rick Pluta, she says any plan that does not raise new revenue for roads is not acceptable.

Roads, flood damage repairs, and an investigation could get money sent their way soon. Capital correspondent Cheyna Roth tells us the Legislature sent a spending bill to the governor’s desk Thursday.

The Michigan Senate on Thursday unanimously approved a $175 million infusion into the state's roads, a 7 percent boost over existing spending and a bid by lawmakers to accelerate a two-year-old deal to improve deteriorating transportation infrastructure.
