Ingham County Controller Tim Dolehanty is considering the Ingham Health Plan and other issues facing the county's finances.
Each of the last two weeks, we’ve discussed Ingham County business on Current State. With various guests, we looked into the Ingham Health Plan, where millions of dollars are accumulating because of funding that continues despite many fewer participants. The county Board of Commissioners is debating options. And last week, the board decided, with some hesitation, to back $6-million of costs in Lansing Township. That’s the township’s share of the bill for the Groesbeck Drain project. Some commissioners wondered whether the township’s finances are too shaky to risk putting county residents on the hook.
Current State talks with Ingham County Controller Tim Dolehanty, the chief fiscal officer of the county. It’s a position he’s held for nearly two years, when he came from Isabella county. He plays a key administrative role in these and other issues.
