Guess who’s turning 40? The DeWitt Community Concert Band will celebrate this musical milestone with a special “Celebrating 40 Years of Musical Memories” concert at the DeWitt Middle School auditorium on Wednesday, May 14. DCCB will be joined onstage by the Twilight Memories Big Band for the concert which begins at 7:00pm. Admission is FREE and door prizes will be provided.
DCCB was established in 1985 with an original membership of 13 musicians. Over a span of 25 years, under the leadership of its founder, Pat Keilen Jackson, the band thrived and attracted much of its current membership. The band has been conducted by Nicole Leppala since 2017, after two years as associate director and 23 years as a French Horn player.
DCCB has performed at numerous local events including the DeWitt Ox Roast, Pumpkin Palooza, the St. John’s Mint Festival and seasonal concerts at many of the area’s retirement communities.

You’re probably familiar with the music of “March King” John Philip Sousa, now join the Forest Hills Adult Community Band in paying homage to Sousa’s programming preferences as leader of the US Marine Band! In structuring his concerts, Sousa selected pieces that fit into certain categories–“Overture,” “March” (of course!), and so on–to build his vision of the ideal concert balance. Join the band for this beautiful bouquet of Sousa-inspired selections!

Duke Charelle has won numerous awards for his music and performances. Apart from being a part of the NME Online Music Awards live performances for a consecutive five years he has taken home the Akedemia Music Awards in 2016 for Best Funk Song, Tantric Dance. Duke Charelle's single "Liquid Galaxies (Grains of Sand)", reached Billboard Top 100 chart, with rank #22 on the compilation album "Hotline Miami: Vol #3, as well as #6 on iTunes charts. Duke Charelle writes from personal experiences with expansive psychedelic thought to transcend beyond the self. His work has inspired many and he sees the future of much more music that inspires to come.

Richard Goode, Piano | Sarah Shafer, Soprano
Accomplished artists of two generations will perform a dynamic program of music by Fauré, Brahms, and Schubert. Venerable virtuoso Richard Goode is known for performances of tremendous emotional power, depth, and expressiveness. A leading interpreter of works by Mozart and Beethoven, he is an exclusive Nonesuch recording artist who won a Grammy® Award for the Brahms Sonatas recorded with clarinetist Richard Stoltzman. He is on the Distinguished Artist Faculty of the Peabody Institute.
Star soprano Sarah Shafer has distinguished herself as equally comfortable with lieder and opera. Praised for her leading roles with the Metropolitan Opera and San Francisco Opera, she has sung with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and at the Spoleto Festival USA and the Oregon Bach Festival.
