New NEA president promotes 'Degrees Not Debt' initiative

The 3-million member National Education Association has a new president, and she was in East Lansing yesterday. Lily Eskelsen Garcia took office on September 1st. Her trip to East Lansing was devoted to pushing for not only organized labor, but also for making higher education affordable.Many WKAR employees are members of the Administrative Professionals Association at MSU, and our bargaining group is affiliated with the Michigan Education Association and, of course, the NEA.

Current State’s Scott Pohl speaks with Lily Eskelsen Garcia about the challenges of running the NEA.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
