Desmond tells stories of how poor renters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin struggle to pay rent, how even one eviction can change their lives for years, and how landlords deal with tenants who fall behind.

An abandoned school building in Portland, Michigan has been turned into affordable housing for families and singles. The grand opening took place last week and WKAR’s Katie Cook was there.
