Dr. Lynne Goldstein (center, left) oversees the MSU Campus Archaeology Program. Her students are excavating glassware, ceramics and other items on campus dating back to the late 19th century.

MSU students are finding interesting artifacts in an archeological dig along the Red Cedar River.

Earlier this month we told you about the ongoing archaeological dig at Fort Michilimackinac. This week, a smaller excavation is wrapping up here on the MSU campus.

Current State’s Kevin Lavery reports on a project that has been turning up artifacts going back to around the 1870’s. One piece of history they’re discovering has to do with the home of one of MSU’s most notable professors who lived during the early 20th century.

Kevin Lavery served as a general assignment reporter and occasional local host for Morning Edition and All Things Considered before retiring in 2023.
