90.5 FM and Radio Reading Service will be off the air for a brief period Tue. Jul. 13 sometime after 9pm ET for work at the broadcast tower. Streams at, the WKAR app, and on smart speakers will not be affected.

UPDATE: 6/8/21 7am: WKAR broadcast of the Michigan Learning Channel returned to the air on WKAR-TV 23.5 beginning 7am Tuesday, June 8.

UPDDATE FRI. Jun. 4 11:45 a.m: WKAR NewsTalk AM 870 returned to the air at approximately 11:25 a.m. after a brief period off-air for maintenance.

UPDATE 4/8/21 8:20am: The Michigan Learning Channel on WKAR-TV 23.5 is back on the air following upgrades to the closed-caption equipment for the channel.

UPDATE Dec. 23 12:30 p.m.: Work was completed and AM 870 NewsTalk returned to the air at approximately 12:10 p.m.

WED. DEC. 23 7:00 a.m.: WKAR NewsTalk AM 870 will be off the air for several hours for maintenance at the transmitter beginning at approximately 10:00 a.m. Updates will be posted at this page.

WKAR NewsTalk can be heard uninterrupted at 105.1 FM and streaming here online.

Tue. Sep. 22 7:10am | WKAR Radio Reading Service broadcast has been restored.

WKAR broadcast TV channels 23.1, 23.2, 23.3, 23.4 will be off the air for scheduled transmitter maintenance in the early morning Wednesday 7/8/20 beginning after 12 a.m., with service expected to be restored by 2 a.m.

SUN. FEB. 16, 2020 | Technical issues at the WKAR transmitter site took TV broadcast off the air at approximately 8:15pm Saturday, Feb. 15. Some cable services were also affected.
