Keith Appling Gun Charges; NBA Free Agency; Nathan's Annual Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest.

On today's "Current Sports with Al Martin," Al starts off by focusing on one of the headliners.  Joey Chestnut, also known as "Jaws," won the 101st Nathan's Annual Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island in New York. Chestnut is the reigning champion, and he devoured 72 hot dogs during the 10-minute race, breaking the previous record of 70 that he set last year. Coming off holiday, interns Jacob Herbert and Carina Garcia, engineer Isaac Constans and Al all reflect on their Fourth of July weekends. Al and Isaac later discuss the NBA free agency in depth. While it may be the offseason, there's been no downtime in the association. Several passionate callers want their voices heard on NBA matters, as well. Al finishes up the show talking about former MSU star Keith Appling's plea deal--requiring him to spend a year in jail in connection with an incident last August involving a gun. Appling, who once had so much potential, didn't know how to cut toxic people out of his life and focus on pro basketball, Al says.
